Modes of Communication

MASHER uses all of the modes of communication: visual, linguistic, gestural, aural, and spatial. The creations use all modes of communication, including visual, linguistic, and gestural, because of the media, text, and transitions between slides. Music is also added to creations, bringing aural qualities to the media, as well. The positioning of the images and text on the screen in the created videos is spatial.

timelineThe website, itself, also includes these modes of communication. The website is navigated by labeled tabs and arrows and the timeline displays the video in the creation stage, covering linguistic and visual. The navigation between pages is also gestural. The site can be aural because you can hear and upload music samples and the timeline spatially displays the content of the “mash.”
